One of the things i looked forward to the most when i moved here was “yes. i will finally have the chance to watch R.E.M.” The band took me through my whole high school life. i remember when Mikey and I got the whole class to get obsessed with Stand, how “What’s The Frequency, Kenneth?” became a common bonding point between a guy I bullied and me, and how we won the battle of the bands because of our cover of “It’s The End of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)” (It was also what spurred the first ever conversation between me and future bandmate Jason Caballa)
R.E.M. just disbanded. Looks like the dream will no longer come true. Let us commemorate. This is one of my favorite R.E.M. songs ever. It came from their last truly good album, “new adventures in hi-fi”. this song is so beautiful it breaks me everytime, and this music video is my peg for every goddamn music video i’ve ever made.
