Shotgun Stories, Jeff Nichols. 2007
My obsession with the Midwest continues with this sparse and contemplative piece by first-time director Jeff Nichols. Somewhere between David Gordon Green and Terrence Malick, the film is about revenge between two different sets of sons. Michael Shannon’s performance as Son is amazing, and America looks almost alien through Nichols’ lens. Another item to cross off my Alexis reco list.
